The Luxury of a Silk Comforter
Defined Tag: Silk Sheets.
There are times when the privacy of your own bedroom is the one opportunity to indulge yourself in a little luxury. The rest of your home is open to the friends and family who come by to visit, but your bedroom is the room most likely to be an expression of your true self. To start with what you need is a silk comforter.
At one time, in ancient China where these comforters originated, only the wealthy could afford such luxury, but now you can too. The true silk comforter is made with a silk lining. The silk lining is weaved together after being combed, and sewn into thin sheets that are then layered to produce the right thickness. This makes for a lightweight comforter that is both warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It is suggested that the silk comforter is not washed but hung outside a couple of times a years to air. In common with duvets the silk comforter has a washable, removable, outer shell.
Unlike in America, the Chinese do not like their comforters stuffed with down or synthetics. They claim to dislike the smell of goose feathers. That is why they prefer the silk comforter. As well, unlike down, silk does not bother those who suffer from allergies. It is also chemical free.
If all these advantages appeal to you than finding the comforter you want will not be a difficult thing to do. Any store that carries high quality bedding should have them. They will be a little more expensive then your average comforter, but the feel of the material, the perfect weight on your bed and the availability of limitless colors and patterns will make up for this.
If you really like silk, the way it looks and feels, then you always have the option of doing your entire bedroom in it. There are silk sheets and pillowcases you can buy that can match your silk comforter or you can buy sheets that will accent it. You can also find silk drapes that will give you the same options. Prepare to spend a little more, silk is not a cheap material, but in the end the elegance you will have chosen for your bedroom may just inspire you to use silk throughout your home.
